As you may already know, WordPress Tutorial is the series I started with one sole purpose, that is to train you on using WordPress. At the same time, I would like to give you some useful tricks regarding how to take full advantage of this amazing CMS. Having said that, many of WordPress users stick to the way they have always worked, resulting in the fact that quite a lot of new features of WordPress get neglected. This keeps you available all the time! If so, does that mean you can never have free time for yourself or never going to have family vacation again? Indeed not! Because Post Schedule is here for your rescue! This feature allows you to write posts in advance, arrange date and time for their publication and leave them there. You can forget about them after that! They will be automatically published on to the website at the exact time you chose.
How to do that? Well, look into the publishing box and click “Edit” right next to where it says “Publish immediately”. Now, adjust the month, day, year, hour, and minute as you wish to spread your post to the Internet, and hit “Schedule”!
Having grown up in the Computer, and later the Internet era, I guess we have at least once experienced the agony when we were in the middle of typing content or whatever, and Bang! Black out! or Internet collapses! Everything we had been working on just merely gone! Nowadays, despite all the technology advances, the very same thing could still happen if you forget to save your post frequently while working. Although WordPress tries to save the day by auto-saving your posts, the sad fact is that the interval between each save may not short enough.
Therefore, you might need this tweak to adjust the time span between each time WordPress automatically saves your work. Add this code to the wp-config file and type the number of your liking:

What is post revisions and what is their use? Well, simply explained, when you publish a post or save a draft, it will be automatically added to the list of revisions. By so doing, WordPress allows you to go back to the previous version if something happens to your post. Useful as it may seem, post revisions is actually a pain in the neck since you are likely so save a post several times before publishing, which results in a long list of post revisions for one post. Not only unnecessary, this long list also takes up much space of the memory.
To alter the number of post revisions and limit it, you will need to work some magic tricks with the wp-config file. Add this code to it, and change the number 3 to whatever number you want!

Sticky post feature comes in handy when you publish an important post and want to keep it at the top of your WordPress website for a certain period of time. Sticky posts are quite ideal if you are holding a competition or a giveaway spree and you want customers to always see it first when landing on your website. They are also perfect if you own a business website and are offering products with low prices for a limited time only. Although this feature is very useful, it is usually forgotten for a simple reason: it is hidden.
To enable this function, go to the publishing panel, you will see “Visibility” option, where you should click “edit” and the box that reads “Stick this post to the front page” shall appear. After checking the box, your post will be pinned at the top until you uncheck it.
The post is too lengthy and you want to split it up for easier reading? This can be done effortlessly with a tag. At whichever point you want to split the post up, just add: <!–nextpage–> . You can split your post into two pages, three pages or as many as you would like. This feature is especially helpful if your post is longer than normal and you fear that customers will be tired of scrolling.
You do not need a WordPress tutorial to know that when you login to your WordPress admin panel, you will automatically be diverted to the dashboard page, right? Anyway, if you do not know this yet, well, this very page offers you with shortcuts to different parts of your website. These so-called shortcuts exist under the form of boxes called dashboard widgets. With just some clicks on Screen Options, you can hide or unhide these widgets.

This so-called content visibility is divided into three levels, namely public, private with password, and private. By default, all your posts and pages are public meaning that anyone can view them. When you change them into “protected by password”, they can only be viewed by people who know the password. However, when they are set as “private”, only people that are given permission can get access to them. These people typically include such logged-in users as administrator and editors.
Remember the “Visibility” option I talked about? That is the same place you can find options to change the content visibility of your posts and pages.
